I don’t know how many of you are members or aware of The Furniture Society. If you are not, you should check out this link. http://www.furnituresociety.org/members/portfolio/makers.php?page=1&location=all&organize=lastname
Some of you may find inspiration from other peoples work.

RB,
I wish I hadn't seen it. The second piece that came up is a "unique" idea I've had in my head for years ;-(

Great site really. Thanks
Measure it with a micrometer, mark it with chalk, cut it with an ax.
Interesting site, good concept.
The pieces are all well displayed, wonder if the makers do their own photography, or if they use professional photographers. This becomes a challenge when making large items.
I fooled around and didn't get mine in there bcause I thought I needed to get better shots than what I had. Oh well, Maybe next year.
If you have something YOU really like.. Have it PRO photographed...
Cost a bit but may get you 'noticed'.. Just me...
Jellyrug-I doubt if a pro photographer was used. Too much dark area that is invisable to the viewer. Not bad at any rate. I was & am a photographer, & I would have put about a thousand watts on the front of that one piece. Now it's time for some one to jump in & say" Not So" OK
Richard
Hey Dicky, There were 13 pages. Did you go through them all? Which shot are you referring to?
What can I say,
My old Minolta with a gazzillion lenses is packed away, to make place for the new digital technology. 1000 watts, you will find in my woodshop, not on a camera.
I once dabbled in photography, only to find out it's like everything else. If you want to be really good at it, it takes practice, study, thousands of wasted shots and more practice.
The great thing about digital is that "thousands of wasted shots" cost no more than hundreds. You just delete the ones you don't like and they don't take it personally :-)Mark

Nice site -- thanks for the link.
Such a refreshing change to see work that's innovative rather than just copies.

Sure there's hundreds of great sites and thousands of bad sites. You only have to know how to look and always check sites for links. Have you been to the links page at taunton press?????
Quick way to find more sites with true custom woodworking is to
Google "custom furniture" That way I won't have to shamelessly promote my own site, you'll find it on your own ;-)IMHO, Most of the pieces on the FurnitureSociety have been shot professionally or by woodworkers who took some time to learn the basics. Some of the loss of shadow detail or burned out highlights can be attributed to loss of quality from scanning prints or transparencies.
