inspiring kitchen table caddy designs/images?
I would like to build a nice kitchen table caddy to house napkins, salt, pepper, olive oil, etc. I want to over complicate the design and have something very nice (through wedged mortise and tenons, dovetails, sliding taper dovetails) with highly figured wood. Since I’m going to see the thing every day, I want to it to be a show piece as much as it is a practical item. Have any of you seen fancy designs of these? Not looking to necessarily duplicate a specific design; rather, looking for inspiration. I do have some books on small boxes so I will be looking at those. Many thanks for the help.

I designed and built a flatware caddy to be used in a buffet set up when we have guests over for a meal.
The wood is Ambrosia Maple finished with Wipe on Poly. The flatware holders are individually sized for their appropriate utensil (spoons, forks, and knives). The carcass is assembled with through dovetails as are the back panels of the individual utensil holders.
Warning: Several family members begged me to make them one and I ended up building three more.
Thanks for sharing. Looks nice.
I spent some time after posting this going through my Tauton Press book on small boxes and have all kinds of design ideas as well.
For ideas do a search for the commercial versions sold to restaurants. Back when eating out was a thing we all did all the time there seemed to be a different version on every table.
This has been on my list for a while. Some version of it could fit what you're looking for.

That is indeed nice. Will mull it over. Dovetails are a must in whatever I make.
I make these. This one was in the gallery section of Fine Woodworking No.276. It seems to fit your description.
Good luck designing!

Very nice. I love the little cutout that extend from the handhold. Perfect.
Very nice. Thans for sharing.
You can do online research and find some good designs that are functional and stylish. I have found one for you. I think this can be made with wood too.
Cool. Very much looking forward to seeing it. Haven't made any firm decisions yet on this piece.
I fell in love with these sexy sexy slab designs a while back...
That is pretty. So many good choices.
