I ran a 66 in my shop for many years with a 5" line coupled to the existing 4" port. The DC worked just fine. My past experiance would have me question the need for you to perform such drastic surgery on your saw. Good luck!

Dear Rick,
I have a PM66 and the 4" dust port is fine. I wouldn't go cutting out the factory port. Table saws make dust, not chips or shavings, so, additional CFM, won't help very much. Using a guard will help contain the dust, however.
Best,
John
Rick, we use a PM66 to cut UHMW Poly at work, and it comes off as thin curly shavings, (imagine little springs like those in a ball point pen). They are far worse to suck out than anything you will get cutting wood. The 4-inch port works fine, so long as the DC is switched on first. If the guys forget to turn it on they end up with little birds nest like balls, that they have to reach in manually to remove.
For wood the 4-in will work fine. If you are insistent that you want to cut your saw, I would recommend reaching in trough the existing port and feeling around for bracing. If there isn't any, I'd cut there.
