G’day all,
Does anyone know any links that might get me started on making wooden flutes and whistles (with finger holes).
I can knock out the simple ones easily but want to progress to instruments that play tunes. There are some really beautiful ones around.
Also will need a source fo some of the fittings, such as tuning slides, unless these need to be manufactured by the maker.
This is a joint project with the kids; who are turing into pretty reasonable musicians. I’m being overcome by Kazoos made from black poly pipe and a plastic bag – even if they are playing Honeysuckle Rose and Tin Roof Blues.
Thanks in advance.
Dave

That's the Music Instrument Makers Forum and it's a great starting point for your project. Follow the links and eventually you'll find a site with specific information about your project.
Also, if you haven't already tried a search on Google, that would be productive as well. I searched "wooden flute making" and Google delivered a number of sites that may have value to you.
Good luck and good skill!
