You'd probably be better off asking that over on Breaktime, or better yet searching the archives over there. Big washer-head cabinet screws seem to be a common response, though. Don't use drywall screws, whatever you do.

Skippy,
If you have a hanger strip angled up from the wall attached to the wall and a corresponting hanger strip at the top of the cabinet you can use any kind of screw you want long enough to grab. In this case the hanging strips are holding the cabinets, not the screws.

Hi Skippy ,
Usually with custom face frame cabinets there is a 3/4" screw rail and often a 1/4" back behind the rail . Drywall will be 1/2" - 5/8" thick , so a 2 1/2" screw will give you only about 1" of purchase into the studs . I use 3" and would recommend the same , these come in a self tapping and self countersinking fast tap type screw .For Euro frameless boxes a washer head or other type of screw may be better .
Most modular cabs come with 1 1/2" stiles and I use a 2 1/2" screw for attaching them together, pre drill the pilot hole , this gives about 1" purchase .So it really depends on the size of the stiles .

RippySkippy's got the right screws for installing cabinets to the studs behind the drywall. I think they come in 2 1/2' and you can even get colored heads to match the inside of your cabinets. You will need 21/2" x #8 cabinet screws to fasten them together(if your cabinets have 11/2" faceframes). I bought one of those faceframe clamps that pulls the cabinets together while you screw them together(Pony 8510BP from amazon about $54 per pair). They are adjustable and are worth the money because they pull the frame together as well as in and out.
The GRK fasteners mentioned are the right kind of screws, but you can buy a screw of this type from any of the fastener places (Fastenal, etc.).
I like to use trim screws to attach the face frames to one another (clamp them first).
As others have said, don't use drywall screws.
