I AM BUILDING A DOUBLE DOORWAY LEADING INTO A SECOND FLOOR BEDROOM SUIT. A STAIRWAY BRINGS YOU TO A SMALL LOFT AREA FOLLOWING A SMALL BALCONY FACING A TIMBERFRAMED GREAT ROOM. I AM USING CHERRY TO TRIM THE HOUSE . I ALREADY BUILT A BEAUTIFULLY CROWN MOLDING AND AM IN THE PROCESS OF JOINTING AND DIMENSIONING MY CHERRY STOCK FOR THE DOORWAY. I WANT TO MOUNT THE CROWN ABOVE THE DOORS. I’M LOOKING FOR SOME GUIDANCE ON HOW TO TRANSITION FROM THE SIDE PANELS TO THE CROWN.

I'm having some trouble understanding exactly what the side panels look like and where the crown meets them. I see the doors and the side panels in your drawing but I can't figure out how they all relate to each other. Are they all on the same plane?
We're going to need some more details or an actual photo before we can make a good assesment. Can you take a snapshot of the transition and post it here?
Alternatively, you might try posting this in the Breaktime discussion forum over at FineHomebuilding.com.
