I’d like to introduce myself, I’m a brasilian woodworker living in Sao Paulo and I’m 41 years old, I’ve been working with wood for the last 10 years, but I still have a lot of doubt, and I really think that we never end learning, and I’d like to start a new friendship at the Knots Forum, and sorry about my English I know I must improve it.
Best regards,
Rääts

Your English is fine. I would concentrate on the woodworking. I am rather new to this forum also and am overwhelmed by the information that is available from the participants. It would be interesting to hear about the woodworking industry in your part of the world.
Roscoe
Hi Roscoe,
Thanks for your reply and I already start looking for some information about my country's woodworking industry to you.

Welcome! I was in Brazil around 1987. I spent most of the time in San Jose dos Campos, but a weekend at falls Digacu (sp?) (the waterfall).
A sua saude (it's all I remember.) Ed
Thanks Ed,
When you were in Brazil in 87, I was visiting Canada and USA by that time, and probably I'll be again next year to study woodworking, but I'm still looking for a College that fulfill my necessities.
See you,
A sua saude (Cheers!!!)

Welcome!! Great to have you on board. I would love to hear about your favorite woods to work and the types of tools you prefer to use.
I'm a 46 year old semi beginner (about three years of destroying perfectly good wood).
Brian
Thanks Brian,
It's great to be on board, I have a lot of woods I like to work with, I'll tell you along our frindship. Don't be dissappointed if MDF is among then, just kidding.
See you,

Raats, Welcome to the U S of A. Your English is fine. Where did you learn it? I know Portuguese and Italian is spoken in Brazil, but English too? I'll bet you use tools your father used (Or made?)
Tell us all you know about Rosewood,as we can only see it in old Stanley Plane knobs.
What do you drink for breakfast? Do you have any Starbucks? (Four bucks) Just funnin' Stein.
Hi Stein,
Thanks for your greeting, well let start answering your questions: I studied English at Alumni School, in Sao Paulo -Brazil a long time ago, but in Brazil we only speak Portuguese.
I'll tell you about rosewood as soon as I have more material to you, and I'm happy I can see rosewood more often then in old Stanley plane knobs.
What I drink for breakfast??? Well, if I could in the summer,Beer.
See you,
Raats
Hi Raats
Welcome from another newbie. Used to spend quite a bit of time in Sao Paulo. Stayed downtown just off Paulista. Nothing better than sitting outside at a cafe with an ice cold Brahma and watching the girls go by.
What kinds of wood do you work with, and what kinds of prices do you pay for the wood. I was tempted to buy a container load and ship it up here. I might still try doing that.

Dear Jurassic,
First of all, thanks, and I'm surprise that you know my hometown and I can see, that, for a jurassic, you have a lot of good habits such as appreciate a good beer and the most beauty on planet earth.
Well, I use a lot of different woods, but sometimes I could use only one, like C.H.Becksvoort does, the prices can vary a lot, I'll send to you soon.

Welcome, Raats! One of the joys of these boards is having members from all over the world. No worries about your English -- so far you write better than some of our native speakers! Looking forward to your posts, so don't be shy.
forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Hi Forestgirl,
I'm so happy to know a girl like you, that like to work with wood and enjoy it, if you are the forestgirl, I could be the jungleboy.
A big hug to you
Jungleboy - the boy only goes out of the jungle to study it!!!

Welcome. I am 56 and have been trying to assemble my Table Saw for 30 years. I may have to resort to the instructions soon as I seem to be running out of time. I'll get it together someday and really get into this WW at that time.
Don't worry about your English. My Portugese is terrible and my English is also lacking. Never been to Brazil, but from the pictures of the women on the beach, I would love to go. If you know any thronged beauties that can assemble a Table Saw, send them my way. I need help. ha..ha..
Have a great day and enjoy life... it's short!
sarge..jt
Hi Sarge,
Thanks, I already started looking for any girl that know how to assemble a table saw, or any kind of tool you have that need to be fixed.
If I could help you, just let me know.

Hi Raats,
I'll throw a big welcome your way too. Was there an english problem?, I didn't notice. Except my own.
My brother and his wife sold their house and quit their jobs and spent a year in South America. They loved it. They only spent a few weeks in far western Brazil. Spent most of their time in Bolivia, Peru, Northern Chile and a few more. They were mostly into history, ruins and bird watching.
If you should ever get the least bit bored here just tease us about your exotic wood prices.
Enjoy, Roy
Welcome, I'm looking forward to talking to you and learning new things from Brazil. I think it is so cool to talk to woodworkers all over the world. once again, welcome to the forum.
Ken K
Thanks Ken,
I'll be very happy to share with you, all kind of information the new ones or the old ones, once again thanks, all be in touch.
