Hi all,
I just discovered my blank “personal profile”. Pardon me, I’m still in the dark ages when it comes to this “web” thing. I must have been in a hurry when I registered and never went back until I posted in “Classified”. Sorry for the internet “faux paux”
Happy Day!

Mack, personal details are not required even by convention. Lot's of people choose to enter no info, or limited info. Actually, you'll want to be careful as you wander around on the internet about entering personal data in those little boxes. Glad to see another Puget Sounder here, the West Coast is rather under-represented it seems.

Although it seems like there are quite a few Puget Sounders though...
I try to wave a flag whenever I see one! Maybe we should start a list? Get together for brewskies every few months?forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)

Brewskies! Now you're talkin'!! Any home brewers out there in the sawdust?? I'd love to rearrange my life so I had time to do brewing and woodworking, but I guess that would mean I'd need to starve.
Happy Day!

I don't know about that- brew it, put it up to ripen, go to work and wait, enjoy it after work some days later. I don't think it's all that expensive to get a small set up going. I have some friends that do it, but they never wait till it's ready before they drink it all. I don't think I've seem a batch come to maturity yet, with those two.
I wish there was a way to do non-alcoholic home brew. I love real beer, I just can't drink it anymore. Hic.
Dave,
Believe me it's not the money, it's the time. I'm too busy with "business" to do much of anything else. I manage to get some "quality" time in the shop almost every weekend but the three hours it takes to brew up a batch of beer ----I just can't seem to be able to spare. In times past it was different ahh the good old days of quaffing pints of my very own "Cascade Stout". Relax! Don't worry! Have a home brew!
Enjoy!

Beer with FG. That's it. I'm movin west. :-)"The child is grown / The dream is gone / And I have become / Comfortably numb " lyrics by Roger Waters
A bunch of us got together at the fall WWing show and went to the Pyramid Brewery for lunch. It was great! Actually, I'm not a big beer lover, but admire those who can sit and oooo and ahhhh over a 14-glass "sample platter" while they taste each one! [14? Well, maybe it was 10, but who's counting?!]forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Puget Sound, huh? Well, I'll be moving to Ocean Shores this summer and I am in need of a good list of suppliers of hardwoods/sheetgoods and hardware. Can any of you point me in the right direction? From where I'll be living, I think it will be a one day trip just for materials
Crosscut Hardwoods in Seattle! Great place on 1st Avenue South. Crosscut is definitely worth the trip. I've got notes somewhere about the best places to buy sheet goods. For veneers, there's Edensaw on 4th Ave. Their Port Townsend location is for hardwoods. Hardware? Hmmmmm, I dunno. You talking screws and such, or handles and such? Anything over and above what Rockler carries, probably catalog order.
[Edited out geography mistake: No one, I'm sure, will believe this, but when I first did a Mapquest search for Ocean Shores, it placed it in between TriCities and Seattle, on the east side of the Cascades!! Didn't understand that, but didn't have time to follow up. When I got to Richland, I dragged out a WA map, and found it where it should be -- on the ocean across the inlet from Westport! Sheesh.]

I'm an ex-pat midwesterner out here on the west coast. Does that count? I'm a bit south of you in Portland. I've noticed a couple other posters from PDX and other parts of Oregon. There are a couple others who also frequent Breaktime who seem to be from the PacNW. It seems like there may be a few of us lurking about.

Hey FG...just a guess, but I'm betting Ocean Shores is like...near...you know...the ocean? =)
I think Crosscut, and Compton (right across the street) both carry a good selection of domestic hardwood plywood, Compton also has a nice selection of Domestic finished 4 sides hardwoods...
I bet you'd have alot of luck in Grays Harbor finding a mill, there are always tons of logs floating in Grays Harbor, on theway to the ocean!
OK, Derek, rub it in, rub it in. See my edited message to Migraine. The first thing I did when I finally got to Richland was look at the WA map, because I really couldn't figure out why Ocean Shores (on Mapquest) was on the wrong side of the mountains!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Try Hardwicks for hardware (and anything else you can think of). Roosevelt way about three blocks South of 45th on the right. If you haven't been there you really need to see this place!! Great prices on good quality brass stuff, clamps, planes etc. etc.. Brass hinges (nice extruded) at least a buck a pair less than Rockler. Ton's of hardware residential and marine! In the "U" district.
I don't own stock or anything it's really quite a "store".
Enjoy!

Thanks for the references to material suppliers. I quickly checked around a few places near me(by phone) and one didn't know what random width and lenght meant. The other priced ALDER for $.30BF more than what I can get it for in So. Calif(go figure). Another didn't carry cherry, walnut, or mahogany.
