I’ve worked out a method to completely disguise a joint by patching plane shavings over the joint using the method of hammer veneering (using rabbit skin glue), then (after dry) feathering the edges of the patch by scraping with a piece of broken glass.
I think if I had properly scraped back the substrate piece it would match even better. But I’m pretty chuffed with it!

If it’s worth anything the slides don’t work for me, the ones I got had ground edges.
Would other glues like PVA, CA, soak through and interfere with the finish?
