Hi WillGeorge,
thanks! There will be free food (air fare not included) .The machine you see is my wide-belt sander.
You should come visit that fine lady and see the new shop while you're at it.
Darrell
Just funnin ya a bit.. Hell I cannot affords to drive 100 miles to see my new Granddaughter!
But then again she looks like her DAD! Gee! I was wishing for somethin' better! Not Really.. Like any new born... As Ugly as we were.. And most of us grew UP better than just ok!
What's that ominous-looking triangular black thing on the ceiling? I think you have alien invaders in your shop.

That's just the blank space in the photo - might be filled in when the corrected image is done.

Darrell,
I would totally be there, if it wasn't 3000 miles away. I think I'll have to RSVP in the negative this time around, but next time you open a new shop I promise to attend. I'd just like to say that I really love your work, your attention to detail is phenomenal and its been very influential in many of my own designs. In fact, the shape of the piece I'm building right now (see attached sketchup image) was inspired by your Aurora chest of drawers. Anyways, best of luck with your new shop and future endeavours!!! Cheers for now Darrell.
Russ.
Russel - I love your bookcase - great well thought out design!I see you have done some outdoor furniture - also very nice!- you might be interested in seeing what my friend Tim Celeski has been doing.
Darrell
Thanks Darrell. Yeah, I've seen Tim's work before, really beautiful stuff. My japanese garden bench is actually the project article in the next issue of Fine Woodworking. It's my first article, so this is a very exciting time to be sure. Anyways, thanks again and all the best to you Darrell!!!Russ.

Very nice work RussellHave fun woodworking but respect your tools
Very nice and roomy set-up, Darrell. I wish I had the open space you have but... am fortunate to have what I do have. I have never seen one of these 360 things before. My wife had to show me how to use it as I have difficulty remembering how to turn the computer on, much less how to navigate one of these modern wonders. ha.. ha... ha..ha..ha..
I would love to accept the invite.. but the miles from Atlanta take it out of reality for me. But the open invitation is greatly appreciated.
Good luck with the well thought out shop and future work that will evolve from it's creation...
Sarge..
Thanks Sarge,
If you ever happen to be up this way - stop in and say hi
Darrell
Wow!!! What a great opportunity for those of you who live close enough. I hope someone will post pictures of the event. Thanks for the invitation Darrell.
Darrell, there are quite a few Knots and WWA members in your area, me included. We've had a couple of get-togethers in Fremont at Tom's shop. I'll give them a head's up.
Question: I couldn't get the shop image to show up on my computer. Does it take a specific program to view it????
Hi Forestgirl,
Yes - please let the other locals know about the open house.
I believe you need a program called "quicktime". I think it is a free download. Also - some people are having problems moving around in the image - just click and hold in the middle of the view - then just move the mouse around to navigate.
.... Darrell
Turns out you know the main guy I was thinking about, Tom from Fremont. What about Peter Loh?? Bet he might like to stop in too.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I know a couple of Toms in or near Freemont? Is this the Tom who used to work out of the shop on Interlake? Yes, I beleive Peter took my G&G details workshop when I was in Auburn -
Great!- see everyone there!
Hi Darrell,
If you only knew how much I would like to attend but NH is just too far at this time. I've seen and admired your work and wish you the best. Hope the turnout is a great time and do take of have someone take many pics for all to enjoy.
Regards,
Bob @ Kidderville Acres
A Woodworkers mind should be the sharpest tool in the shop!

Better life through Zoodles and poutine...
Hi Peter - great - I am gald yo can make it!
....Darrell
I was fortunate to be able to make it there and meet the man, see his shop and study two pieces of really fine furniture.
I had forgotten that he is the author of the book "Greene & Greene, design elements for the workshop" so it was a very pleasant surprise for me.
And the man is a really nice person to boot.
Mr Peart, I am looking forward to more books from you.
Cheers,
Peter

"Mr. Peart, I am looking forward to more books from you."So am I. Thanks for letting us know about being at his open house. Someday I hope to see him in Pasadena when he comes down here to Southern California.
I will be showing my furniture at Pasadena Heritage Weekend in October - see you then!

Hi Peter - I am gald you could make it down - I enjoyed meeting you. You did not get the long distance award though - that goes to Tom Moore of Southern CA
Another book is in the "thinking about it" stage at this time.
