Hi,
For a demanding customer, I have to make a table with top in Ipé (Tabebuia spp.) for exterior use.
For the assembly, what type of adhesive should I use: EPI, PU or epoxy?
Thanks for the info.

I have had good luck with the powdered brown glue that you mix with water, I think it is called Welled wood.

Thanks Troy.
I'll try to find it. My first Google search didn't give any useful results.

Thanks for the effort Mike, but I was looking for an other type of product. I'm trying to avoid formaldehyde types of adhesive. UF, RF or MF type would indeed do I great job, but here I can't use them. That is was I'm looking for something different. I need something extra than just a traditional PVA.

I think hardly this year.. Maybe next year?
That's the stuffThanks
YEP IT works And then some.. I use when needed!
My first thought was Marine Epoxy. Looks like West System has a specific product.

Thanks, I think I'll go with a marine grade epoxy. Look the most trustworthy type of adhesive for the job.

Well, if you're making an outdoor table, I would suggest making a top with spaces between the boards.
First, gluing the pieces together is a difficult process, after cleaning joining the pieces, cleaning the joints and finding and using the right glue. Ipe' being very hard and dense is difficult to joint with power or hand tools.
Second, a solid top will have water standing on it till evaporation. Not good. Slotted table tops for outdoor furniture make sense due to the watershed.
Just my two cents. Good luck and post pics!

I make ipe and bamboo longbows and the glue of choice is TB 3, not any problems.
I read a report somewhere that PVA was the best glue all around, even for oily woods (I think they did mahogany or teak) and large gaps. Titebond 3 is waterproof. If you go with epoxy, I've been switching to System 3. They have great customer support and a good manual. The issue with West Systems is that it leaches something that should be cleaned between coats, and System 3 doesn't. Then remember to top coat with UV protector, particularly for epoxy, such as spar varnish.---mike...
Last weekend I was making a base for a piece of granite out of Ipe to live out on the uncovered deck. I had glued a few short pieces to longer ones the weekend before using Titebond III. I had decided to drill and dowel for the full height, 15.75" just in case. Screwed up the drilling on one and had to cut a new piece. No problem. While the glue was drying I decided to try and break off one of the short pieces glued previously with a hammer. Well, decided I didn't need the dowels. I could not break the joint.
