oxalic acid. You can get it as a powder at any good paint store. Mix what you need. A couple of applications should do the trick.
many thanks
Let us know how the oxalic acid works. It is possible that you don't have an iron stain but have "blue stain" a fungal byproduct. Its more common in pine, but does affect the sap wood of oak. If this is the problem, you should first try chlorine bleach, but be warned that, according the the things I've read, it may not have much impact.
hi steve
will let you know how i get on.pretty sure that it is an iron stain as there is evidence of nail holes in the bark/bast.thank you for the info.matt.
I have 'did that'
Sometimes it LOOKS OK! Depends on the customer.. In fact I would probably like it.. Just me because I love wood AS IS!
Could you mock up a prototype with that 'stick' and let them have a 'LOOK'... I'd say depends where it is in the final desine? Desine?
How about product?
hi willgeorge
as the wood is for a staircase the blue blotches would look blotchy!and ruin the over all desine!thanks for the reply.matt.
