I recently purchase a rail and stile cutter set to use in my router table.
When I set the safety mark on the cutter shank level with the top of my collet, and wind the router up into the table, I find I am unable to use the bottom set of cutters by about 1/4inch, because they don’t protrude through the table enough.
I telephoned the manufacturer and spoke to the technical department, and was told that they were aware of the problem and that they had undertaken trials, and found it safe to raise the cutter by 1/4inch.
My router has one of the largest plunges, and I know I can go and buy an extension collet( which I don’t trust to be safe anyway) and the suppliers know there is a shortage of shank length…….so why don’t they just increase the shank length to overcome this problem.
Anyone else have this sort of issue with this type of cutter??

I'd call the guy back and ask him to make the first cut!
Really, If you do not feel safe I would demand a refund...
A second thought.. Is your router table plate thicker than others?
