Dear All,
I have to imbed some small display items in a clear acrylic medium that would provide invisible (or nearly so) support. The effect I am after is about the same as seeing bugs in amber (but this needs to be clear). Is “LUCITE” the right stuff? I have no experience with this medium, and would really appreciate a referral to a source of the stuff and any comments from any experience out there. Each item is about 5″x5″; I am planning on making molds about 7″x7″x1.5″.
Many thanks as always,
John

John,
I believe that the product you want is casting resin. It's generally available. "Hobby" shops carry it andthey can probably give you good tips about how best to use it.

Great. Thanks very much.

There are several types of casting resin -- you need the clear or transparent polymer resin.I used to make paperweights with the stuff.
As you will be casting each piece in two layers, I would cover the mould with a sheet of glass to stop dust settling into the wet resin as it is very obvious in the finished casting.
