Is this a good price? Delta 36-444 wi…

I have a chance to buy a used Delta contractors table saw (36-444) with a new (boxed) Biesemeyer 52″ Home Shop fence system for $500. The Biesemeyer does not have an extension table or legs, so I’d have to shell out about $150 for those, but I am trying to decide if I should take the leap. I was going to wait until early summer to buy, but this might be a steal. What do you think?
Separately, when/if I go to look at this, what should I be checking on the saw? Seller claims he’s selling because he bought a Unisaw, and of course I will make sure to see if one is in his shop.
I am upgrading from a junky Craftsman benchtop, and this is plenty of saw for me. But, is the price right?
Thanks,
Scott

It sounds like a good deal but what condition is the saw in. Also you can make a table for the fence for about 50 bucks. But again Its seems like a good price but the condition of the saw is a concern cuz you didnt mention it.
*I think you are looking at $900-$1000 retail..50% to 70% of retail seems fair if the saw is in good shape.
*Being a novice at evaluating used saws, what should I examine to make sure it's "in good shape"? And, I now think the saw might be the older 34-444. Anyone have experience there? Thanks so far, Scott
*Amazon .com has that saw available new for $849.00 with a freesliding miter jig. That's why I priced mine at $300.00 (about 4 years old) Mine has an adjustable dado blade and dust collector. (plus a couple of extra blades) I'm up grading to Grizzly's 12 inch cabinet saw. I've been trying to sell mine for well over a month and so far no-one has even given me a call.
*On the appearance check out to see if it has a signs of being abused. Check the top for squareness. Check the arbor bearing for play. Turn on the saw check for any excessive vibration which could be a indicator of the bearing going out check and see if the blade is paralel to the mitre gage slot. check and see if the blade has a wobble in it by rotating the blade around by hand which could be a indication of a warped arbor flange.....With all that being said each one of those is relatively easy to correct and repair. But you can use it a negociating tool to get him to come down on price.I sold my delta contractor II saw with a freud carbide combo blade, wobble dado blade, dubby for 300 bucks and I just replaced the bearings and had the arbor flange faced at a machine shop so it was in good condition Oh yea it had a biesmeyer 40" homeshop fence and a custom cab with drawers and doors for storage and I included the stock stand with it. So anyway deals are out there.
