I login to FWW at least once a week using the Apple Safari browser on my iMac. About a month ago I could no longer login. I’ve called three times and most recently was told the problem was the new version of the operating system.
I was told this seems to be a common issue, although not the exact issue I have been experiencing – login screen disappears and returns as a ‘subscribe’ screen. Today I was instructed to use Google Chrome or Firefox.
I have avoided using any other browser on my Apple products as it just increases my internet security risk and takes up hard drive space. I have an expensive computer and really don’t want the extra hassle.
Has anyone else found a fix?

It sounds like you either need a new computer, or be willing to use another browser.
Regarding your space concerns, a browser is fairly small relatively, and no concern unless you're computer has way less space than any modern computer.
Regarding the safety concern, that's pretty negligible if you use the browser purely for FWW (not to mention you've still got the security risks on anything that can access the internet).
I suppose option 3 would be to stick to the print copy only?
Thanks. My Mac is 3 years old, just out of warranty but definitely new. I've always hesitated adding any additional browser because I feel Safari should do the job. I am aware some sites do not support Safari because it adds to their IT development costs. Give the number of Mac users out there I'm sad that's still the case.
Every single new app on a hard drive adds to risk, it is inevitable. I will note I discovered (tonight) I can login to FWW on my iPad, just not my iMac. That should tell you something.
The National Security Agency (NSA) in the US was hacked. How much do you think they spent on data security? I'm not paranoid, just realistic.
I get that, and I agree the website should be tested to work with all at least common browsers etc. Unfortunately that clearly isn't the case so it's a "work with what you have" situation.
Ya, just like every time you go for a drive you risk getting in an accident. Yes, due diligence and safety is 100% not to be downplayed and needs to be excersized, but there is also a point where you're overthinking it a bit. That pout is different for everybody depending on level of comfort, sure, I'm simply pointing out that a browser download is on the minimal risk side (it's not like you're getting some sketchy program off the dark web - it's a well known program by a well known publisher).
Yes, everybody is a fairly easy target, but also not really much of a target. The NSA is known to have lots of sensitive data, etc etc. You and me are randos with maybe something worth something, maybe not.
Also, again if you use the browser purely for FWW that also incredibly limits how much of your data would be at risk (if you don't store personal info on your comp at all then the risk is pretty I significant. If you do, I highly recommend you either never connect that comp to the internet, or you make sure it's all gone - that's a bigger security issue than chrome or Firefox would present).
Glad to hear you've got it working on a device at least, even if not the preferred option
I’m surprised Safari can’t keep up with their updates. This site doesn’t seem to be that advanced. It has to be dated when you have to scroll and read an entire thread to find new comments because the last poster didn't reply to the end of the thread.
I have reset my password on a recurring basis for FWW after getting locked out. I'm using an Android phone.
I also discovered tonight that I can login on my iPad and email a link to an article to myself, then open the email on my Mac and be logged in to FWW on my Mac.
Does that make any sense? So if I emailed that article to anyone else they would be immediately logged into my FWW account?
That’s a bit scary isn’t it?
Cayman - have you applied all the recent updates? A three year old Mac should also support Sonoma so if you haven’t upgraded then I would definitely do that as well. We use all Macs and don’t have any issues with FWW or any other site I use. My wife is in real estate and one of the sites she uses does not play well with Safari so she uses Google Chrome (always kept up to date).
Hope that helps.
Thanks, yes I’m running the most current version of iOS. As far as I can tell it’s not Apple keeping up with FWW, it’s FWW’s technical team not keeping up with changes to Apple’s iOS.
