Hi all,
Just received Iturra’s catalog and would like to say first off what a great catalog! I wish I had this catalog before buying a bandsaw, the amount of information in this catalog is excellent.
Iturra has there own line of bandrollers and I was wondering if anybody here has used them? They appear to be a big improvement over the guide blocks that manufactures supply with their machines. I was considering Carter bandrollers as an upgrade until I received Iturra’s catalog. Aside from the price difference between Carter & Iturra rollers which of the two are better?

When I had a Delta 14" I had the Iturra bandrollers, and they worked just fine. I have never used the Carters, so have no comment. Louis Iturra is a waonderful man, very generous with his time on the phone if you have a question.
Fine Woodworking had an article last year that discussed and compared bandsaw blade supports. The conclusion was that for 14" bandsaws, Cool Blocks were the best and most cost effective. Only if the saw was dedicated to resawing did the Ittura bandrollers make sence.
They were basicly against large diameter wheel supports like the Carter as they moved the blade support point a distance away from the material and that the slightest blade movement would either ruin the blade or the support or both.
I've had (and used) a set of Ituura band rollers for years. I like them, and I like dealing with the company. You've already noted that the catalog is superb, but so is the associated band saw history and technology information. Every band saw user should get a copy.
Mine was a non-standard application. Iturra put together a combination for my saw - at no additional cost.
I thought about Carter guides, but decided to get the Iturras for two reasons: (1) cost, (2) The Carter guides decrease available cutting height. I'm happy with my decision.

I have them on my 14" Delta, one of the lowers siezed up. I need to get it replaced. Go easy on tightening them because it's easy to gall the aluminum.

The Iturra Man is tops & he is not full of BS. He helped me through a 18" band saw for resawing problem . It didn't turn out like Grizzly said, and Iturra was right on the money. I have had three things from Grizzly that turned out bad. Whats more Grizzly was no help what so ever.

I would like to add my recommendation of the band rollers. They made my 14" Jet a pleasure to use. The factory plastic guide blocks are junk. I do agree with your assessment of their catalogue, it is worth having as reference material!
