Hi,
I am putting in a japanese soaking tub in my next house and wondered if there is a supllier of the the special wood used in these tubs. I know that the best wood comes from Japan, but there is a supply of a similar wood on the northwest coast. Does anyone have any information on this?

I was an installer for California Cooperage before Colman bought them out and buried them. They used old growth ceder stumps as their source
I made some myself out of R oak ,ceder, and teak.Have the pool guys(swiming that is) order you a welded brown vynel liner and you can use anything your little heart desires
There are some great cedar's available on the west coast that rival Hinoki, Western red, Alaskan Yellow and Port Orford. This company uses all three and gives some descriptions as well as other supplies. Scroll down on the home page.

Carolyn,
I lived with a real redwood tub for years before we converted it with a vinyl liner. The only problem was that I didn't do it sooner. It consumed fewer chemicals, did not leak at all and, most importantly, did not leach minerals and other chemicals into the water that could affect your health.
