Am in the process of buying a JDS accu miter gauge for my table saw. Any opinions on this model. From what I have read, it supposed to be one of the better ones. Thanks for you input.

I've had one of these for about 6 months and I love it. I didn't by the hold down and from what I've read it was probably a good idea to pass on that option. It is solid and versatile, a real difference from the miter gauge (so called) that came with my Dewalt TS. Check around for prices though I didn't find great differences. Dealer location and customer service might play a big role here. I got mine at Amazon because of certificates I get from using their credit card.
i have had one for several years - would recommend it. the only downside is it's weight - but then - the stoutness probably adds to it's accuracy and reliablity -- but it is a heavy one.

I have the hold down and love it. What have you read about it that was negative?
Cheers,
Peter
i can't remember where I heard or read it bt the crux of the matter was that it just didn't do the job. It got in the way and was not strong enough to hold down much more than small peices. Just hearsay. I do love mine, and yes it is heavy but i think that helps.

For what its worth I have found the opposite. Quite strong and very handy. Wouldn't want to be without it.
Cheers,
Peter
Hmmm. Maybe it would be worth adding it to mine. I was recently trying to work with 6/4 poplar in 42 inch lengths and could have used something to hold the pieces down and stable. Thanks for the info.

Thats what convinced me. I was cross cutting similar size wood and it worked like a charm. You have to adjust the clamp for every different thickness, but having done that it holds it down very well indeed.
Cheers,
Peter
I have one with the hold-down clamp. I like the clamp for that extra measure of safety. The clamp easily uninstalls if it gets in the way. It is heavy, but it is very soldily built. Excellent miter age.

Thanks for all your opinions. Mine should be here next week aned I'll let you know what I think. I expect it to be as good as it seems. I've not heard many negatives about it and am sure I'll enjoy cutting straight miters for a change. Thanks again.
Mine was not 90* to the table and I had to shim .004" between the alum. bar and the steel piece behind it to get square cuts.
