Anyone out there find a non-internet source for a filter replacement on the JDS 750? I picked up a filter at Ace, but it’s about a 1/4″ too high. Am hoping I don’t have to order them on-line!

I bought the electrostatic filter for mine. About $45.00, I think, from Amazon. I then got these "L" clips from Rockler that hold a regular 12X24 filter in front of that. Works like a charm. I vac the 12x24 when needed, replace it when it gets too beat-up, and wash the electrostatic occasionally.

I agree with Joe on the electrostatic filter. I vacuum it off from time to time and wash it, and the bags, when I get ambitious. I'm afraid you may have to order one online. You could tape a furnace filter to the outside and seal all around. The best utility tape I've found around the shop is the red Tyvek tape, it beats duct tape.
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
The ES filter is not an option right now, guys. Just blew all my funds on that Jet DC! It seems to me I oughta be able to get the right size regular furnace filter somewhere, but so far no luck.
Thanks for the tip on the Tyvek tape, I'll try that.

An HVAC guy can get you custom sized furnace filters without too much trouble, at least around here. Not too much more expensive, either.
Good idea, maybe. In the meantime, I messed around with the cardboard frame of the Ace filter and managed to get it installed without too much fuss. The "maybe" in my first sentence is because your post reminded me of what a P.O.S. filter our furnace company put in last fall. I don't know how much they charged us for it, but it looked like it was made in a kid's science class. Probably captured particles as low as 100 microns :-/ Ps'd me off! forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
FG
what are the dimensions?
The actual dimensions are 23-5/8" x ~11-5/8". I thought (silly me) that the regular 24" x 12" filter would work, but its actual size is 23-7/8 x 11-7/8. The length doesn't really matter, but the height sure does!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
Hi there FG
Have you looked at the Rigid / Emmerson air cleaners at H-D .I just love going in there and busting open the boxes to look at stuff .If its the wrong size just walk off and leave it. By the way L-V air cleaners are Emmerson so it is possible JDS are as well.It may well be worth a look
I've never noticed air filters (shop-type) at HD.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
