I tramped all over this site to no avail. I am an old wire head and could have missed it (mea culpa).
A cyclone is obviously a major component of the retirement shop that I am planning 48×24 and I am of course trying to cluster the big ugly dust and chip producers in some semblance of work flow to optimize collection according to the attributes or shortcomings of various DC’s.
I see a 3 hp cyclone with an 8″ main stepped down to service machines to suit. I looked at the JDS 3300? and can find no users. It’s not likely that I will drop 4+ grand for a complete system based on the WW mags or marketing promises, I HAVE read all of Mr. Penze’s work and I under stand the words and music involved. I rode a variety of submarines and ran ventilation/atmosphere control among other things -a great education. I will also probably use two JDS 450’s to clean up as well as recirculate the ceiling heat from the coal stove all the way in the rear by the mechanical tools benches.
I have also watched(at length) the griz and onieda pee on each others shoes-a disgusting commentary on the WW business.
If any one has some skinny, please give me a shout. I am too old to do this twice. Thanks, Pat

The JDS cyclones are new to me. I don't think they have been available for very long. That's probably why you haven't seen any information. I've owned a few different brands of ambient cabinets and the JDS stands out in quality. I would expect the cyclones are also nicely made. I like the way they are set up for low ceilings.
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
That's the feeling that I have, so I may just have to wait, I have till the fall. I also have some of their goods and as an old IE I have rarely seen such fine fit and finish. Thanks , Pat
Pat,
I am an Oneida user and have no experience with JDS so I can't help you on that front. I can tell you however, that Oneida's services for the 3 years that I have been dealing with them has been exceptional from the system design process, order and shipping to responding to my many questions as I have made alterations. I too read everything I could find on DC systems, including Bill's web site, and in the end I settled on dealing with experts whose only business is DC systems. I have not been disappointed.

Much thanks, I have looked at onieda's 3hp and like a lot but I have 7'10" to the rock plus the floor joist, not the best space. I will be my choice if no others fit the bill.Pat
I am just finishing installing a 5HP Oneida in my basement shop. I also only have ~7'8" to the ceiling. Fortunately, I have an unfinished ceiling at one end of the shop. I installed my DC in this area, where the motor is between floor joists. Getting the DC hoisted into this space and set onto the stand was a very physically challenging task, but with my brother's help and some specialized engineering, it worked.
I cannot use the 55 gal drum, so I will be cutting it down to 30-35 gal, but this will still hold quite a few shavings. I also built my own custom stand to account for the shorter height and to straddle the sump pit that is directly under one corner of the DC.
I have been impressed with the design service that Oneida offers, and I paid a little extra for the "bag-gripper" accessory. I don't want to have to drag the entire drum out of my basement to empty it, so the ability to line it with a bag was quite attractive. I just finished wiring the DC last weekend, and now I have to finish the installation of my ducts.
If height is a concern, you might want to look at the Felder DC. I have heard good things about them, but I am not an expert. Good luck.

Much thanks for the info, oneida is on my short list, where do I find felder , they are new to me. Pat
Web site is http://www.felderusa.com . I did not see any dc's.
Also, for anyone interseted, you can achieve about the same effect as the "bag gripper" by putting several small scraps in the bottom of a plastic garbage bag.
Regards,
Jim
JIM,much thanks for the info, I saw two stage DC some with cleaners. I will scope it out thanks, Pat
Here is a link to the part of the felder site with some information on their DCs.

When I was looking, they only had 3-phase "Clean air dust extractors" available, but they have since added a single phase option for a couple of their machines. I think I had an article that reviewed these machines, but I couldn't find it quickly. If you have any questions about specifics, I would strongly suggest perusing the Felder Owner's Group (FOG) site and posting your questions.

CM, thanks for the lead, Iwill need the user group chat as they don't give too much info. Don't you just love it when they give half the specs in metric trems? I can deal with it but it's an olympic PITA. Pat.
I just bought a Felder Table Saw / Shaper combo last year, so I am adapting to some metric measurements. Fortunately, all my scales are in inches, but the tooling and specs are all defined in metric. This is no surprise, since the machines come from Austria, but it still takes some adjusting. The FOG is an excellent source of information - they have answered all the questions that I posted. Good luck.
