Hello,
I’m currently in the debate about whether to buy a Porter Cable 7518 and Router Lift or invest in the small 1 1/2 HP Shaper from Jet. I am a hobbyist/ second-income woodworker and am looking for feedback in this area. I will be raising doorpanels on cabinets as well as running molding and other larger profile cutting.
Please, send me input.
Thanks,
Mike

Buy the JET. We have both at my school and I'd buy a second jet in a heartbeat. The collers for router bits are superb, and it cuts great. 3/4" bore shaft is true and change over is simple. A real good buy, with tons of possibilities.
Thanks for the input!
I was leaning towards that machine as I looked at it's flexibility. I'm so glad that there is this Forum so that I can get some insight from others out in the field. I really appreciate any help in my maiden voyage into shaper usage.
What do you mainly use this tool for? Panel raising, profile cutting, etc?
What kind of cutters do you use?
Any info you can give is great!
Thanks,
Mike
