About two years ago I bought the after market spring/nut and handle for the blade tension adjustment from Highland Hardware.
Noticed the last couple of times I adjusted tension it was more and more difficult to achive proper tension. Disassebled everything an it seems that the threads on the adjustment shaft are streching/breaking.
Thought about replacing with “Spinner 3 Bandsawtesioning Crank” http://www.highlandwoodworking.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=5620
Has anyone tried these?
Also what is the over all opinion of replacing my cool blocks with “Band Rollers” for resawing? Using cool blocks for 1/4″ and smaller blades?

Scarecrow,
It would seem to me that if the threads are breaking up and stretching, a crank isn't going to help--the threaded rod is failing--about to break. Either you are seriously over-tensioning your saw (unnecessary), or you got a bad one. Not hard to do. If you really need to crank it down that tight, go to Enco and look for grade 8 threaded rod. That'll hold until the blade or saw frame breaks--neither is desirable.
Make saw dust, not war.

I wouldn't choose a grade 8 unless what it threads into is easily replaceable. Any threaded connection that gets regular use will wear, so you want the cheaper part to be softer. It's a lot cheaper to replace a threaded rod than a casting, for example. If you do go with grade 8, you'll need a carbide blade to cut it.Pete

On my saw, the rod threads into a captive nut, so that wouldn't be an issue. Other saws may work differently.

The "Crank" is a new rod and bronze nut assembly. I do think my adjustment rod is too soft. I'm using a highland hardware woodslicer 1/2 resaw blade and I'm barely able to tension it to 3/8's now.
The after market spring is the Iturra spring.
I've pretty much figure to replace the adjustment shaft, but not decided if I want to use the same or maybe better quality one.
