Hi all

Jeff:
You can view (and print ) manual for jet band saw on their site http://www.jettools .com

Good luck
Ben
Thank you for the info.
Unfortunitly, my computer software isn't compatable with the Jet site.
I have been unable to get past the 1st page.
Jeff
Jeff,
If your puter will allow...Woodcraft sells the Jet 18" with the Euro guides..and also features the Carter roller bearing guides as an upgrade. As I remember the Carter guides and Jet guides look similar at least..
You might think about giving that Commodore 64 a rest....lol
BG
Commodore ! Please !!
It's an Apple IIe
Jeff
PS Thanks, I'll checkout Woodcraft.
(Problem is I can't update my Netscape 4.5 because that is the only
version that works on an FCC site I use.)
The Jet site requires netscape 6 or higher, and I'll be gosh darned if I'm upgrading from 4.72 which works to 6.0 or Ugh! 7.0 for just one site. Don't even think of bringing up Idiot's Explorer.
So far, I haven't noticed any improvements in 7.0 (which an idiot loaded on a machine at work), but it does ask if I want it to remember passwords when I visit webpages that require them. Oh, now that's secure! I'm just waiting for the hospital to require that netscape 7 be taken off all machines, all 10,000 machines.
I also like the new porn policy. If I click on an attachment at either knots or breaktime, it comes back as "Forbidden pornography." Just what have you guys and gals been etching into your projects? ;-)
Yeah
Drives you nuts sometimes, doesn't it.

hey Jeff..
bought the same saw abot three years ago, and i love the beast.
mine has the euro guides, i have found no need for any up-grades; time will tell
i re-sawed a piece of 20+ year old walnut with a 3/4 re-saw blade; and the only reason it slowed down was i kept poppin my circuit breaker.. the log was about 8" diameter.
i have used the saw mostly to re-saw, and have'nt had smaller than a 1/2" blade on it. i find you have to tension the blade by feel, as opposed to using the guide. my 3/4" blades seem to cut better at 1" indicated on the scale.
i should say that these are not the best blades on the market, but adequate for my uses.
that being said; enjoy!!!!!!!
casey..
Thanks Casey
Jeff
in the F.W.I.W. catargory i've had the 18" for about a year and upgraded the spring to an aftermarket spring from iturra in jacksonville, florida 888-722-7078. the spring got to me in two days , and really optimized the tension on the blade. the measurements they needed from the spring are length (2.355 inches), width( 1.145 inches), thickness of gauge of spring(.240 inches). one more measurement they needed was the diameter of the rod that goes up the middle of the spring that was if memory serves alittle smaller than a 1/2". it was 16.00 and well worth it. i'm reasonably sure all springs in 18 are the same but i'd double check just for giggles...... slainte bear
Thanks bear, I'll check.
Jeff
thanx, Bear. damn if i did'nt lunch the lower thrust bearing(no pun) this afternoon!!! ouch!!
guess i am on the phone tomorrow...

Let us know what happened and the outcome.
All info is helpful.
Jeff
Jeff, called Jet today, and did'nt wait for the answer; too much elevator music..
will try again on the morrow..
Bear; thanx for the info, will maybe replace the spring, seein as the saw is down, anyway.
ya'll have fun, and i'll let ya know!!
casey..
Oh yes, music on hold.
I know that problem well.
Good luck.
Jeff
Jeff,
got through to Jet today, (5/6) and they are sending me a new bearing and shaft. To their credit it took only about 2 min. to getr a rep on the line.
The bearing and shaft w/ shipping will be $10.73. Little Miss Myra was quite pleasant, and I should have my part in a few days, U.P.S. ground.
Damn good thing, cause i gots some work to do!!!
Have fun, bud..

When I asked how they wanted me to pay, the gal said that there was no charge for the manual.
I said "free, no charge" and she said that was there policy, and they
would send them to me shortly.
I would rather pay and get then asap then wait in limbo forever.
If you have a manual, would you Zerox a copy and send me it?
I'd be happy to re-inburse you.
