HI knot heads, or would that be Knots heads? Whatever! Hey I’ve been looking to upgrade my 14″ Delta band saw for some time now and have been trying to make a decision on the make and model. I had it narrowed down to either the Grizzly 19″ extreme 3 Hp or the Steel City 18″ 2 Hp (Sarge’s personal favorite), until I stopped by the Rockler Woodworking store today. They had just received four 20″ 3 Hp Jet band saws. They weren’t out on the floor yet so I asked them how much they were asking for them. I was quoted $1299.00, which had me in shock since I had been looking at band saw prices for several weeks now and most all 3 Hp 20 inch band saws are selling between $1700.00 and $2000.00. Turns out he miss-quoted but honored that price at which time I made the purchase. So I’m asking did I get a good deal? I couldn’t find any internet machinery dealers that even sold this 20″ model. I could only find it listed on the Jet website. So far I’m feeling pretty good about my purchase, like I got a killer deal! No buyers remorse so far. So I’m picking it up on Saturday and then three or four days later my Minimax 8.5 ft sliding table saw arrives. There’s a distinct possibility that I just might be spoiled! If theres any one in the San Diego area that would like to come help me make room in my shop for these new tools please feel free to contact me. I’ll at least buy you lunch!
