I just saw this jointer on ebay and it is in my area. It has a black cabinet and black hand wheels, I’m not sure how old it is. The table and fence look to be in good condition and the seller “says” it was bought and never used. The price is good and being it’s about a 20 minute drive from where I live, I was thinking about it. Anyone have any experience with this model?

imrich,
I have a jet JJ-6 CS (closed stand) jointer, bought new in 1994. It's blue, not black. Never put a wrench on it other than change the blades. It does have a high pitched whine which is annoying, but I'm not sure if that's normal or not, it's the only jointer I have ever owned.

Thanks for your input. This one is also a closed stand. The seller just has it listed as JJ-6. As for the whine, I wonder if it's the belt. I've heard a lot of guys and gals who have replaced the stock v-belt with those adjustable flexible link belts and they say it cuts out much of the noise.
I'll definitely have to give that a try. Also considering replacing the cutterhead with a spiral insert from byrd.
