jet jj-6 jointer question re: knives
Hey all:
New guy here.
I just bought a used Jet JJ-6 jointer for a great price. Tables were flat and true with a straightedge. Brought it home, cleaned off some surface rust, took the old knivies in for sharpening, and bought some new ones.
Questions about setting the knives (that I can’t find the answers to on the internet, and don’t have a manual):
1) when I put the knives and bars back in the cutterhead, there is a lot of room in those slots in which to position the knife and bar. Does the knife bottom edge go flush with the bar bottom edge? Do the bar bolts more-or-less push against the middle of the slot side? And does the knife stick up above the cutterhead just a little bit, like 1/16″? Any suggestions about exactly where the knife and bar want to be in that slot, as a starting point, would be helpful.
2) When I removed the knives I cranked down the outfeed table. I know that the top dead center of the knife should be more-or-less even with the outfeed table, but that can be adjusted by the knife height. What is the standard for where the outfeed table should be? I mean, I ought to adjust that first and then use that height to adjust the knife height, correct?
Thanks much in advance. I understand conceptually how to adjust the knife height, but I’m not sure where to start with the above specific settings.

Send me your e-mail address and I will send you the manual, it has the answers to all your questions. It's too big to attach here.
