It will be 20 years ago this December that I purchased my JET Lathe. Granted it’s not a top of the line lathe but it works great for my home use. Needless to say after 20 years of work and a couple moves it started to show it’s age. I thought it was time to put some luster back in it’s life so I decided to give it a paint job. I was only going to do the bed but the more I looked at it the more I thought I should do this piece then that piece. Next thing I knew I had everything from the bed up dismantled and laying on my work bench! After 3 days of disassemble, sanding, painting and reassemble I came up with the finished product. And I added a shelf while I was at it!
In case anyone is curious the paint is RUST-OLEUM Canvas White $4.50 a can. I didn’t paint the legs so as you can see it’s a really close match.
On a side note. The 1/4″ tool rest locking bolt stripped out. I was able to find the same style locking bolt in a 3/8-16 size on Amazon $11. I drilled out the banjo and re-threaded the hole for 3/8″. It works perfect!!

Looks great! It also looks like you've logged some miles on that machine!
Very nice job.
