My local Rockler is offering the Jet SuperSaw 708775/JWSS-10PF for $599.99. Seems like a good deal and I’d replace my DeWalt 10″ Contractors Saw. Reviews on amazon.com make me think I should stay away from this “deal”. I’m a hobbyist, but use it a fair amount. I’d appreciate any input.

Seams like a very good deal, I have a jet contractors saw that I paid about 500 for over 7 years ago and it has been an adequate tool. For 600.00 this sounds like a very good price. Plus you can sell your Dewalt and recover some of the cost.
Good luck

That deal applies to the original Jet Supersaw. They've since made major revisions to the new one, adding an Exacta fence and full enclosure to it...it's really a completely different saw now.
The original has had some issues with the blade raising mechanism and belt, and the fence took some criticism for not being on par with fences on other $900 saws...at $600 some forgiveness may be in order. So while it's heavily discounted, there are still some stout competitors in the same price range....Sears has 3 good hybrids, Grizzly, GI, DeWalt, and Delta also have good examples. For what it's worth, Workbench rated it dead last in their hybrid comparison a while back.
The hybrids have several advantages over traditional contractor saws in general. You may love it and it might be a good saw for you...lots of people do. Just do some research and know what you're getting into as opposed to buying just b/c of the discount.

the rigid 3650 is about $550 at hd. it's working very well for me.
I have one of the original design Super Saws. My only complant is the original fence. If you can get the Xacta fence I would go for it. I have had it for over 3 years now and it is a great saw. I have had no problems other than the fence.
For $800 I'll let you have a Unisaw. Pick it up in Warren, MIDJK
