I have a Jet JWSS 10LFR 10″ tablesaw and am having trouble raising the blade. It is very stiff. If you force it to go up or down it will break the belt that is an integral part of the mechanism. I called Jet and they said all that is needed is to blow out the saw dust. I have tried using compressed air, my shop vacumn, etc. but with little improvement.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Often what happens is the "pitch" in the sawdust sticks to the mechanisum and effectively makes the threaded shafts bigger so they bind. You might have to turn the saw over to access the bits that need to be cleaned. Once clean wax the shafts to reduce the sticking of the pitch.
Thanks, I'll try that.
The only thing that bothers me about the possibilit of pitch buildup is that the angle adjustment works great. It seems to me that if pitch is indeed the problem it would affect the angle adjustment too.
Thanks again for your response.

Its about where the blade throws the sawdust. Some, its right at the threaded rod for height adjustment.
Thanks!
While you are under there, check out the whole blae movement system. I had a similar problem on a contactor saw and eventually found a small wedge I had trimmed off of something that had blwn into the cabinet and go stuck between the back of a gear and the support bracket. I eventually could hardly turn the handwheel until I found it, pulled it out with some pliers and the whole blade system freed up instantly.

Because there is always more to learn!
Great tip - I'll look for something like that in my saw.
Thanks.
