My Jet AFS-1000 air cleaner crapped-out. All 3 speeds are less than slow. I took it apart and checked the voltage to the motor. Only 80 volts on any of the leads. Of course thanks to product liability lawyers everywhere protecting me from me, there’s nothing in the manual that tells me what it should be, not even a wiring diagram. A good guess might be 120V though. So I called Jet Technical Support for the first time ever. The friendly voice on the other end of the phone agreed that I needed a new controller and the motor is probably OK. He agreed on the legal BS but said it’s gotta be that way. He say’s he gets calls from guys all the time wanting to know how to get 240V to their new saw that obviously don’t have a clue and won’t spend a few bucks on an electrician.
How old is it?
Less than 2 years give or take, I said.
Where’d you buy it?
Rockler.
Which store?
Tustin, CA
Serial Number?
508…
That’s the stock number.
I could call back with the serial number.
No problem, we’ll send you a new pc board, you should have it in 3 days or so.
I just love a happy ending. Don’t you?

John,
I too have had excellent service from Jet. They really go out of their way to be sure you're happy (not merely satisfied) with their products.
Jeff

I live in Fountain Valley. I'd say I'm semi-pro doing 3-6 commissions a year when I'm not at the day job in Cerritos. At least the hobby has been paying it's own way the last few years and putting a little coin in my pocket besides.John O'Connell - JKO Handcrafted Woodworking
