Several, or more than several, years ago, John White wrote an article in FW about a workbench he designed using only 2×4 material. I have a use for such a bench, but I can’t find the article online. Does anyone know where I can find it or where I can get a copy.
I have moved twice since the article was written and only the Great Woodworker in the sky knows where my copy of the issue is. Thanks

Possible Alternate. There is a work bench made from plywood in the Tools & Shops Annual Issue, Winter 2005/2006 No. 181. It is customizable and appears to be fairly stout. The article claims it can be made for under $250.00. It is on my to do list.
I'm in the midst of building that plywood bench. 2.5 sheets of plywood, a partial sheet of MDF, some screws, some glue, a vise and some hardwood for an apron/edge.
I bought a vise at woodcraft today (an entry level groz one - $60). So I'm probably around $210 in materials now, plan/hope to finish it tomorrow.
My advice so far is, be careful with the spacers in the legs for placing the stretchers. My problem - I ripped a bunch of plywood at 3 9/16, which you laminate and then trim down to ~3 1/2. I wasn't thinking and just put a 3 9/16 spacer into my legs as I was assembling, so I might have a bit of play I need to fix.
Good luck!
Take a look at John White's message in this string:

Thank you for your reply. I did as you suggested and that finally took me to the past issues link where I found the article.
