Here’s another clue - there seems to be a bolt running through the middle
Looking at the picture with the screw, my guess is that the right and left legs are one component passing true and the fore and aft legs are bolted together on either side. The joinery makes it look like 4 legs joined with miter like angles but this is only for visual impact as you can see the straight section joining permanently the right and left legs.
Here's a view of that from below. I'd say Gulfstar nailed it.
Cross lap joint, plus the screw.
