I’m building these tables to be used as computer and work tables and have a question on joining the bases. Originally I was considering RTA hardware but am thinking I want to permanently join hte base panels. Biscuits and glue seem teh way to go but it doesn’t sem that would be strong enough. Since, without the top,,there is no supprot at the front and it seems the assembly could rack pretty easily. Would screws solve the problem? Any suggestions on hos to join the base panels?
Thanks,
George

I'd build it like a kitchen cabinet base, with a couple of braces across the top. With those, biscuits and glue will be plenty strong enough.

George,
There's just something about the four legs in the center that seem awkward to me. Is the overall design to make it modular?
Perhaps eliminate the overhang on the end pieces, leave an overhang only on the outboard end of each sidepiece, or eliminate two of the center legs?
Just me observations not necessarily.

What computer program are you using to make your drawing renditions?
Agreeing with Bob@Kinderville. Personnally, I would eliminate the four center legs and relocate those supports along the walls giving you an open space for your legs. Nice piece however.
Based on experience, you might also consider some sort of cable chase under the top to hide the cords you'll have hanging when your equipment is installed.
Enough of my 2 cents.
Post a photo when you finish.

Building it like a cabinet would work. It flashed through my mind but was rejected because I was thinking that when these had to be moved, it would be much easier to swing them around doorways with no piece in front. Hope what I'm trying to say makes sense. But, it does look like that's the way to go.
I'm using Sketchup
These tables are primarily for computer use. The reason the adjacent legs where the tables meet are spaced is to allow me to put the PC system boxes there. There are probably going to be two systems; I'm going to mount brackets for the boxes on the legs. If I end up with only one system, I'll probably build a drawer unit to fit there.

George,
That makes sense, i.e. 2 PCs, thanks for clarifying.
When you get to it I would suggest some way of keeping the PCs off the floor and inch or so anyway. On towers at least they typically draw air in from around the bottom and would suck a lot of dust inside the case.
Just a thought from experience.

I'm thinking "L" brackets that can be bolted together once all is in place. Simple, cheap and un-doable.
Personally I would use Miller dowels. I have used them on numerous cabinet boxes and they are amazingly strong and pretty quick too. With Miller dowels and glue you'd be set though you do need a front brace or skirt. You could (as I usually do) install corner braces of 1x4 cut at 45 degrees on the back corners (set flat beneath the countertops).
I am sitting at my computer with virtually the same configuration of a desk. If you would like a photo let me know. I did not build it, it was a semi custom from a local phoenix shop. I would not bolt them together, way to heavy to move around and fish new cables for speakers, phones, backup battery, backup hard drive, printers, scanners, USB devices, keyboards, and monitors. It is a mess of stuff organized into raceways. Problem is the cord is usually to short.....

Azmo,
I'd love a picture, especally of the raceways. Cable management is going to be a bear. There will be 2 PC boxes, 3 flat screen monitors, a router, an external hard drive, speakers, and a docking station. What the drawings I did don't show is the desktop vents and cutouts in the sides for cables and such. It's not so much the cables that are the problem, it's the various power adapters that every cable seems to have now.

George I sent you pics by email and did not post. Just wanted to be sure you got my corrupted computer desk....
