I needed to change the knives in my jointer for the first time, so I watched the video by Bob Vaughan, on Jointer Knife Change. It was very good, as I was able to follow it, and ended up with a machine that was better than new. The knives were within .001″ with each other and the outfeed table. I proceeded to edge joint some Ash in preparation for a Shaker Style Vanity that I’m building, and it was a real pleasure to work with. If you are unsure how to properly setup your jointer knives, watch the video, it’s worth the time.

Hi,
Do you know where I can find a copy of Bob Vaughn's jointer video?

You'll have to figure out how to find the info on the site yourself. It's good parctice anyway. No new questions, just new people asking the old questions.
Ok so if we only have new peaple asking old questions and we should all find the answer form the last time it was posted then I have to assume that you think we should close the forum and just have the archive?

I think you would be limited if you just appled that application to this forum. But have you looked at other forums? There's always the guy who put his question on every forum there is. How many times have you seen folks asking how to set knives in the jointer????
If you think about how many forums there are out there I'd be willing to bet the amount of new questions and answers is pretty small. I found the archive search to be much better on other forums. Plus the amount of just plain misinformation or even dangerously wrong advice that's out there is pretty amazing. I just find that most questions have already been asked many times.
Joe: Look in the archives for "Jointer Knife Setting with Bob Vaughan".

Thanks Brian. I found a link to the Google video, in the FWW archives.
