Hi, very basic question. Trying to install this on my newly built bench, but there are no instructions and I can’t even get the vise to close/engage. (Told you it was basic). I spin the handle and nothing happens….what am I missing? How does it operate? Thanks in advance…

Irishbill, I suspect that, as with mine (can't recall the mfr) there's a little drop-down dohickey under the screw that you have to hold up in order for the screws' threads to catch. A real bother, but that's all I can think of.
Doug Irish in Arizona.
It's partly gravity operated. The vise needs to be in its proper orientation to work. A slight left turn of the handle disengaged the threads, then pull the handle and rear jaw straight back, opening the vise. Slide it in or out to where you want it, then start turning the screw right. After about a quarter turn the threads engage, and it screws inward.
It's a great vise, but a little counterintuitive if you haven't used one before.
Thanks for the heads-up. Packed with the vise I got a little cardboard box with a cast ‘collar’ I would call it, that is threaded. It’s about 2”x2” .....again, no instructions and I’m scouring the internet but nada so far....

Their website says that's to change the vise from quick-acting to a traditional vise. If you like the quick-acting mechanism, you can save that piece in case you ever want to convert.
Thanks... I didn’t find anything on the website I went to.....would you enter the link? Thanks
Here is the link. There are no instructions but in the description it mentions the extra nut.
