I usually toss that “Products for Woodworkers” thing that comes in the mail with a couple dozen ad/coupons inside. But I opened the one that came today, has a handy chart showing the 3 diffrent grit-sizing systems for sandpaper and how they compare with each other. If you photocopy or scan it at 200%, it’s actually readable! (remember, I’m over 40, LOL). Sponsored by Woodshop News.

hmmm, so I should look at those instead of recycling them, what an idea. I openned that package and was attacked by seemingly hundreds of postcards. If only they included some money so I could afford to buy some of the advertised products, their scheme would work much better.

I looked twice for the greenbacks, but no luck, LOL! Just for fun, I'm entering the drawing for the Hawk scrollsaw though. Hardly ever take the time, but who knows....can't win if I don't enter!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
Funny, I get a mailing from some "woodworker" club and they include this "cool" screw size chart. I think "great" put it in the shop. Then I don't think of it again (or need it) until months later, I get another mailing from the club with the same guage. The second one I threw in the trash since I never used the first one ... The things they'll do to get you to sign up for these clubs..
Has anyone signed up for these woodworker "clubs" are the worth the $12-14 they charge?
Thanks,
Mark
Measure it with a micrometer, mark it with chalk, cut it with an ax.
That sounds like the Handman Club (I think that's what they call it). Complete waste of time/money IMHO. If I recall correctly, the screw gauge thingie is white plastic with nearly-unreadable numbers on it, right? Too funny. Without a doubt, that club is the biggest hype job I've seen relatively to woodworking.
They even give you a membership card (whoopie!) and I think a bumper sticker or somethin'?? Sheesh. Hope I'm not offending anyone, but when I opened their promo envelope a couple years ago, I got the impression they thought I was 9 years old :-)forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
Yup, that's it. The Handyman club. I couldn't remember the name. Screw guage and a hole size guage. The hole size guage was the one I kept and never used. I also use their return address stickers sometimes but I threw out the rest of the stuff...Thanks,

Is it irony? contradiction? I don't know how to explain it but I too love it...Thanks,
