Some years ago we were New Zealand and were taken to see a Kauri tree – pine family. A MONSTER, witha nearly cylindrical trunk (no taper). We were so impressed I bought a simple bowl.
Now I have discovered several “water spots” on the surface of the bowl. In fact, they may be from Windex used to clean the glass table top on which it rests. I tried wax – no good and finally just wiped it down with mineral spirits which really made it glow – but the next day the spots were back. Any thoughts?

Frosty, rub it down with 0000steel wool and re-finish with a danish oil type or wiping polyurethane- it was probably finished like that in the first place.
PhilipYou win the Golden Kiwi award! The process worked perfectly. Frankly, I did not think there was a "finish" on the bowl, but when I hit it with the 'oooo', sure enough, it cleaned up - and boy, did it soak up the Watco.I see you are in NZ - no wonder you are the only one who responded to my post. Do you regret leaving Zimbabwe? What a mess it is now. "Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely."I just checked the bowl - I can't read the signature but it looks like "Keven R..." It has a green stone mounted on the rim. Thanks for the help.Frosty
