keeping my JD 20 jointer fence square
I can’t seem to keep my JD 20 fence square. I square it up with my square, and just as I get the handle cranked down tight, it moves quite a bit out. It will also move when I exert pressure against it even when the handle is cranked down tight. I’m not really finding any answers in the manual. I worked through the indexed stop (45 & 90) setting adjustment, and abandoned that because there is so much slop in the setting that it isn’t really useful. I bought the machine used, but it’s generally in good shape.
Any ideas about how to lock down the fence squarely and more securely, and any hints about fine tuning the indexed stop settings would be welcome.
Thanks

What make is a JD-20? Did you mean DJ-20 or is it a brand other than Delta?

no, I guess I went dislexic. I did mean dj 20. Thanks. It is a delta.
I own the same jointer and have had no such problems. Mind you, I set my fence to 90 and haven't changed it since I bought it. Check that the spring loaded detent pin is registering in the notch and that the locking handle isn't stripped. Short of that, give Delta a call. If it's still under warranty, call an authorized service provider to have a look at your machine.

Thanks, I'll check that. The handle was stripped, but I put a new one on it.
