Using a keyless chuck on my cordless drill is less than satisfactory. While it holds six sided bits such as screwdriver bits just fine it does much less well with standard drill bits. Drilling holes, particularly in sheet metal, is difficult as frequently the drill bit quits turning while the chuck does not. Other than buying a set of hex shank drill bits or adapters is there any way to improve this situation?

I find the better drills(commercial one) don't slip so much as my cheap B&D jobbies,I find that by keep holding the chuck whilst applying power eventually gets there.
I have two different Dewalts that do the same thing. I switch to an electric drill for heavy duty drilling. Next cordless drill I buy will be a Panosonic, great drill and chuck, batteries hold their power longer than other cordless I have used.I suppose there may be better aftermarket keyless chucks you could swap out, though the cost might not be worth doing.
