I’m building new flush mount kitchen cabinets for my sons new home and want to run a sanity check. Is there a standard ratio between the board widths for the face frame and the rails and stiles of the single panel doors. My intention at this time is to make the face frames and the stiles and rails all 2″ wide maple with 1/4″ maple veneer for the panel. Am I ok here or do I need to change something ??
Thanks, WMeek

There's no ratio that I know of, only your own esthetic judgement. One thing to consider with your 2" frames - if you are going to use Euro 35mm cup hinges, check how wide the frames need to be to reasonably accomodate the hinge mounts. I have found that on doorrs with a glass panel and molding strips on the rear 2" doesn't leave enough for the hinge.

Thanks Ring;
I'm planning on using butt hinges with just the pin portion showing ( not the plates ) that will mount on the edge of the door and frame.

wmeek ,
Ditto on what ring said of the clearance on the backside of the frames . Also traditionally flush inset are used quite often and imo often have wider rails to increase the length of the glue joint . If any of your doors will be longer than average you may want to increase the dimensions of all your door frames for a bit more structural integrity .
good luck dusty
Not to mention allow for the counter top Buckism: Will show you the the way

Face frames, 2". Rails and stiles for doors 2 1/2".
Jeff
It has been my practice to make the bottom rail wider than the rest, for example left, right, top 2" and bottom 2.5".

Thank you all for your feedback. I tihnk 2" face frames with 2" top rail and stiles and 2 1/2" bottom rail sounds really good.
Again thanks, Wmeek
