My father is making a kitchen cutting board and would like to give it a concave surface. He has all the old Fine Woodworking back issues and thinks that there was an article which addressed such a project. Does anyone know which issue would have such a tip or would know the best way to get a concave surface on a hardwood kitchen cutting board?
Thanks in adavance for your assistance.

FWW published an article in May/June 1996 (Issue 118) on a buckhorn scraper. That would work on a concave surface. What shape is the concave area, rectangular or circular? What kind of tools do you have available? Tools that will work are a curved adze and travisher (both used for hollowing out chair seats), gouge, router, angle grinder, belt sander.
I think that the board is rectangular with an oval depression. He has a full shop of DeWalt power tools. I think that he just needs some guidance on which tool to make the initial depression. Thanks for your quick reply.
Belt Sander, 80-100 grit and a good dust mask / respirator.
I would suggest doing this operation outside as well, unless he has a good method to collect the dust.
G'luck.
