Hello, I would like to remove the center wood piece for 2 small drawers to make 1 large drawer. I am concerned it will ruin the finish and the integrity of the cabinet. I would appreciate advice on whether this is feasible or not. Thanks in advance for any help

The drawers are in 2 different cabinet boxes. You would be removing the top of one box and the bottom of the other... quite a major surgery requiring the removal of the cabinets.
It is much more feasible to combine the top 2 drawers in the upper cabinet unit where the cross rail is likely non-structural and could be easily cut out.
You could even use the 2 drawer fronts again on the new larger drawer and the look would not change much at all.
Thank you!
Good luck, let us know how it goes.
I agree with mj. The drawers are in 2 boxes and modifying would cause a loss of structural integrity.
It could be done and would be a major project but is not recommended.
I have never seen drawers in cabinets mounted in individual boxes. Talk about overkill.
Stacked the cabinet boxes to get it into the room. In one piece its taller than the door so you would have to come in sideways. Floor to ceiling cabinet so then you couldn't stand it up in one piece because its longer than the ceiling height on the diagonal. Might be other solutions to the problem but that was the solution someone came up with.
Absolutely agree - bad idea from a structural integrity standpoint.
