I wonder if anyone can help with the design aspects of a knife/sword cabinet.
I have been approached by a prospective client looking for a cabinet to display knives and swords. He has an idea of a free standing cabinet (approx 6′) with 4 glass panel doors basically dividing the cabinet into 4 sections.
2 sections on one side (split vertically) would open to display swords and the other sections would display knives. Apparently he has about 200 knives, although I cannot think how to display them all in one cabinet!
The problem I’m having is working out how to display them. I would assume that it would be on numerous shelves…any ideas or plans?
Thanks and Regards,
Ricky Briggs.

Are you certain that the customer wants them on shelves? I was recently at a store (in the mall of all places) that actually had a nice display that had all of the knives on angled pegs to hold them into upright for display. I'm fairly certain that the display had metal peg with rubber coating but they may have been wood. If he chose to go with shelved you could probably rout doevtails in the back plane to give them a free standing look. I've seen displays like this before green felt was used to hold the knives (or coins if I recall correctly) to give a nice contrast to each piece. But as for you problem of displaying 200 knives in one cabinet, if it's going to be 6' tall I think you're probably going to be O.K. unless he's got about 40 Rambo Knives. Best of luck and I hope I could help.
