I am going to build a book case and it calls for knotty pine. I need advice,is there a classifaction of wood called knotty pine? If it is not clear, it is knotty,Right? I don’t know and any and all help will be appreciated. Thanks,Bob

Sometimes things just are what they say. You got your Eastern Pine, or maybe Ponderosa Pine...you got your knots. Go to, & have fun. Post a pict when it's done.

Bob,
Jer hit it on the head. Avoid large knots, 3/4" or more, since these tend to fall out. Also, be sure to seal all the surfaces with shellac, regardless of what finish you'll be using. Pine will ooze pitch, especially around the knots. Not good for books!
