I am going to Korea on a business trip. Ratherr than buying the normal souviners, I want to buy some Karean planes and chisels. The problem is that I do not know how to find a resource in Korea. After all, Americans don’t generally shop for planes and chisels.
I solicit the advise of the group to help me determine how to find my tools while in Korea.
Thanks.

I was in Korea in 1984 and found that the tools are all like Japanese, Chinese. I did not stop or shop at any stores for them, however you will likley find them all together as is typical to much of the orient.
Plumbing shops and stores all in one area, window shops all in one area, hardware tended to be specilized, one store would have hinges, one nails, etc. I presume the same with tools.
I did see them being used and all looked like Japanese style.
I did see trees, full log length being unloaded and hauled to a sawmill, so I presume hardwood lumber is being sold, used.
I did not see any used tool stores or new tools stores.
I would suggest you take the time to tour the Korean Cultural Center, lots of craftsmen at work making traditional items. They might be the best source of information. I found them very friendly and offered all the help possible. If they did not speak English, they would take the time to find someone who could.
What area are you going to?
Curt
Thanks for the info.
You asked where I will be. I will be in the Seoul area.
