Dear All,
I am looking at the Kreg System Kits offered by McFeely’s, and am a bit perplexed at the selections. I have only used production set ups, so I don’t really know what I need to do the type of joinery that I wish. I have the PC pocket joiner and it only accepts materials up to 7/8″ thick. I have a job that requires thicker material and i am not springing for the Kreg production machine. I was wondering if there are any opinions on the “Standard” kit vs. the “Super” or “Master” kits.
Best,
John

I bought the Kreg K2000 kit two years ago, and wasted a bunch of money. I use the pocket jig more than anything in the kit. I love pocket screw joinery, and think it's worth the effort. I would suggest that you figure out how much you will use it, how much equipment you need and see if there's a kit that matches all that. If not, buy the individual components and make your own kit. I wish that I had purchased the Jig R3 kit--it's everything I would need for about $100 less than I spent.
I sort of suspected that. I was all set to get the "Master System" and then I really looked at and wondered how much of all that is really useful. Thanks for your input.Best,John
