Kreg Top Track and Stop system
I recently made the Ultimate Crosscut Sled as shown in FWW #199 Aug/08. The problem is the Kreg trak that the author suggests. I purchased the item from Lee Valley here in Victoria, BC and the stops will not reach the sled floor at the front of the fence.
The instructions say that the trak fits a fence that is 3/4″ wide, not the 1 1/2″ that the plans call for. The picture in the article shows that the swinging stop works when positioned but it will not reach the sled floor when positioned that far back from the front of the fence.
The fixed stop which also comes with the package, will only work on a fence that is 3/4″ thick also.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Kreg Top Trak is 3/4 inch
Barry,
I wish I read your year-ago post before I tried to make the Ulimate cutoff sled. You are correct, the Top Trak is too small for the 1-1/2 inch thick fence. I thought of two possible solutions - (i) cut a 3/4 inch rabbet in the top of the fence or (ii) fit an adaptor to add 3/4 inch more between the indicator/trak and the flip stop. Is this how you solved the problem?
I also looked at top mounted tracks from Incra, and althought these would probablly work, they looked to be less accurate than the Kreg.

My stop comes within about 1/8" of the floor of the sled, which works for me. Actually, even after tightening the pivot knob there still is a slight bit of lateral give in the stop so I don't use it.
Pics of the extended flip stop
Don,
I went to a local welder and had the Kreg Flip Stop extended 3/4" on the flat part for $25. It now fits the width of the fence. However, the Ultimate Cross Cut Sled fence is 2-3/8" tall and the flip stop is designed for a 2-1/4" tall fence. As a result, the flip stop sits a bit high from the sled. Here are a few pictures of the extended flip stop.

PS - I haven't uploaded photos to Knots before so apologies if this doesn't work.
