I am curious what the Kunz #300 “Brillant” plane (see photo) is designed for.
It has a spokeshave type blade and adjuster on a 8 3/4″ plane body. The blade sits at a 47 degree angle on a fixed mount (i.e., no adjustable frog) and has a 25 degree bevel (face down).
Thanks.

It is designed to take your money.
Derek:
I believe Stanley originated this plane design. Yes, it adjusts like a spokeshave. It is meant to be a general purpose plane for the occasional handyman chore of shaving down a door, smoothing a deck rail, or some other coarse work. In reality it is a piece of junk that has no place in a woodworker's shop. Not a totally bad plane design, just executed crudely.
