Hey everyone,
It’s my birthday today. I’m 22.
Just thought you should know that.
And I got an axe for my birthday from my wife. It is from Lee vallet tools. I am going to cut down a stand of spruce so that I can have a we bit of firewood for the winter.
Blessings
Derek

Happy birthday. If she got you an ax to cut down a stand of spruce she must also think you need some exersize. Ask for a chainsaw next year.

PS. Oak makes better fire wood.

You are shrewd in business and cannot be trusted. You shall achieve the pinnacle of success because of your total lack of ethics. Most Scorpios are murdered.
Happy Birthday!
It's your birthday, we wish you many more
And health and wealth and friends by the score
So let's cut the cake and we'll eat some more
Happy birthday to you!!!
Happy B-Day buddy. If you were my friend, you be getting a pound of nails. Or a nice shiny new roll of duct tape.

Happy Birthday, Derek. I had one a few weeks ago. I'm 22 also, well with a few extra; well a lot extra. :>)
I just got a Lee-Valley shoulder plane from my wife for a birthday. They have great products and the folks there are nice. I saw the axes. Wouldn't mind having one myself.
Wishing you many more happy birthdays and may the "great spirit" bless you and yours...

Well thank-you for your well wishes. Here is a good story. We went to lee valley tools and picked-up the axe. I get home and chopped down ONE tree. We leave and go to her (my wife's) grandfolks. Today I figure I'll go out to the yard and cut down some more. I took about ten more swings and the handle cracks right down the middle. Needless to say I was a little pissed off. So then I just went to the shop and tuned up my new veritas block plane which I also bought yesterday. Beatiful little thing. I have always just used a stanley handyman. But thought it was time to upgrade a little. It is lovely. I sure hope that Lee Valley is as lovely with there costumer service as they are with there products. I will see tomorrow I guess.
Take care and God Bless
Derek
P.S. who is the "great spirit"?

I am going to guess it was the Iles and not the Swedish Gransfors. You mentioned splitting wood. Did you get the Iles splitter or the felling axe? The handle should not have broke. I have a few cheap axes that the handles are intact for many years. I believe the Iles has hickory handles. Probabaly a bad section of wood in the tree as the hickory is very strong.
I don't think you will have a problem with customer service, even though their first question will be, "How did you break it". I would take a good look at the broken handle before you call as to a clue if it splintered or has one stress crack, etc. They will ask questions as that is not common.
I love thier shoulder plane. Excellent quality product and I'm sure the block is the same. I use a block very often. They can preform magic sometimes.
Good luck with customer service and let me know how they responded. Hope your birthday was fanatastic. You will discover the more you have, the less significant they become to you. Quit aging and you won't have to worry about that at all. ha..ha..
